Abstract For decades, diabetes mellitus has been of wide concern with its high global prevalence, resulting in increasing social and financial burdens for individuals, clinical systems governments. Continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) become a popular alternative to the portable finger-prick glucometers available market convenience diabetic patients. Hence, it attracted much interest various sensing technologies develop novel sensors better performance longer lifetime, especially non-invasive or minimally invasive sensing. Effort also put into finding biocompatible materials implantable applications achieve effective vivo CGM. Here, we review state-of-the-art researches field The currently commercially CGM have analyzed summary is provided potential types recently researched monitors. Furthermore, challenges advances towards introduced discussed, hydrogel aimed at minimizing adverse impact from foreign-body response. In addition, large variety promising glucose-sensing under research reviewed, traditional electrochemical-based optical other electrical sensors. recent development achievement reviewed are together analysis terms statistical data newly published patents related field. Thus, direction future work this could be concluded.

Continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) sensors are portable devices that allow measuring and visualizing the glucose concentration in real time almost continuously for several days and are provided with hypo/hyperglycemic alerts and glucose trend information. CGM sensors have revolutionized Type 1 diabetes (T1D) management, improving glucose control when used adjunctively to self-monitoring blood ...
متن کامل“Smart” Continuous Glucose Monitoring Sensors: On-Line Signal Processing Issues
The availability of continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) sensors allows development of new strategies for the treatment of diabetes. In particular, from an on-line perspective, CGM sensors can become "smart" by providing them with algorithms able to generate alerts when glucose concentration is predicted to exceed the normal range thresholds. To do so, at least four important aspects have to be ...
